The Black Hajib
Wow, woke up feeling really great today.
Hadn't gotten over this terrible shyness enough to go to the Masjid.
For some reason I really wanted to go today.
I looked through my closest to find something presentable to cover myself.
Found something!
I put on the black hajib that I'd made all by myself. Looked professionally done.
After dressing, I headed for the car.
I hear a big bang!
Started hunking the horn for my daughter to come to the door.
Thought I'd hit a bicycle.
She looked to see that the front end bumper had fallen off of the car.
How could this have happened when I rarely even drive the car.
She. She. She must have done it! My daughter has the car more than I do.
At any other time, before reverting to Islam, I would have ranted for hours. But, now, I felt
a calm that I'd never experienced.
I retreated to my bedroom in my black hajib, closed my door, put down my prayer rug, and began
to pray on time. I felt no anger, just peace.
Still didn't get to go to the Masjid, but Allah was right where I needed Him most.
