At times, we wonder why things won't move as fast as we think that they should. Darn I wish that this divorce was over, darn I wish I could meet someone new, darn how I wish I had money right now, darn I wish I had a job, darn I wish this and that.
Yes, we have, at times, been anxious for things to happen. But, you know that patience is something that we must learn over time. Why? Because there is an order to everything and nothing can be completed or come to fruition until specific steps are taken.
One of my children was in such a rush to grow up, get an apartment, and live out on her own. No matter how she pushed or manipulated, nothing went anywhere near how she wanted it to go. She wanted the apartment before she had the job. She wanted the great paying job before getting her high school education.
She wanted everything fast!
I had a heart to heart talk to her. It was explained to her that she must first have a means in which to pay for the apartment, but first she needed to complete the application. She moaned and groaned over this tasks, but then realized that if not done, there would be no chance of ever getting the apartment. With drudgery and great effort, she gathered all documents needed.
The next day, with a look of confidence, she walked into the Apartment Manager's office. As the documents were being sorted and checked off , my daughter held her breath. Finally, at the completion, a big sigh of relief was expressed ..
As the days passed, she realize that the time was going to come as usual, in 24 hour spurts. There was nothing that could be done, but to wait. In the mean while, the best thing was to just prepare by job hunting for a part-time job, and by registering for classes.
To make a little extra money, she began doing hair styles for friends or for whomever wanted a quick style. I must say, she was doing a very awesome job.
Back to the beginning point that I was trying to get across, patience includes effort, planning, and, at times, lots of waiting!
Eventually, You may get what you want, if it is for you. But remember being patient doesn't mean rushing or trying to jump or skip steps in trying to get the end result.
