The sky is overcast to day and the wetness of the cold rain hits the window pane.
I look over to see the face of Hadiya Pendleton of Chicago staring back from the pages of a newspaper. Just to think, full of life, with stars in her eyes, and a dream of a future, as she happily participates in President Obama's inauguration parade. Then just a week later in Chicago, less than a mile from President's Obama's home, her life is blown away like a candle's flame in the wind.
What happened to those times when kids could stand with their friends or play jump rope while singing........"Strawberry Short Cake Cream on Top....?" Crazy how kids have forgotten how to play. Now, all they want to do is pull guns and shoot. I guess guns are the new toys on the block.
Hadiya wasn't a gang banger. She was against gun violence! But, it was a gun in the hands of the wrong people that took the life of a bright and shining star, a candle's flame that got blown out too soon. GUNS OR NOT A JOKE, NOT A GAME, NOT COOL, DON'T MAKE YOU TOUGH, DON'T MAKE YOU REAL, GUNS MAKE YOU KILL!
